Conduct
Canyon Creek Elementary is a Capturing Kids' Hearts campus. That means, the students are the creators of our social contract and help set our goals as a classroom community. Together, both students and I build a Social Contract as an agreement of how we will treat each other while in our room and in other parts of the school. Students who successfully fulfill the social contract earn comet cash in addition to recognitions as a good friend and classmate in our school.
If students violate the Social Contract, other students are encouraged to offer a visual reminder to their peers (called a check) to help keep each other out of trouble. If the check fails, and a student chooses to again violate the Social Contract, the teacher intervenes using the Four Questions:
1. What are you doing?
2. What are you supposed to be doing?
3. Are you doing it? (No)
4. What are you going to do about it?
* So what is going to happen if you do this again?
Consequences to violating the social contract:
1. Four Questions from teacher
2. Teacher Selected Consequence
3. Communication with Parent
4. Behave Out (break outside of classroom)
The office referrals are reserved for a student has harmed another student, is threatening harm to himself/herself or to others, has damaged property, or has persistently not responded to redirection for the same violation. A soft office referral may be used if the teacher believes the student will benefit from a private conversation with a principal in order to discontinue a negative behavior.
If ever you have questions about conduct, rewards, or consequences in our classroom, please email me at a [email protected]
